Galvanized by Mark Rothko’s credo: “I’m interested only in expressing basic human emotions,” Macedonian artist Jordan Manasijeski’s signature emblematic style focuses on deconstructing images to their most important lines, beautiful colors and organic forms while encapsulating the essence of his compositions. Existing in a prismatic-hued world, his visceral, non-objective canvases are influenced by Rothko’s expressive philosophy as they appeal to universal emotions and ideas through their magnificent bold color palette and dynamic, textural paint application. Striving to capture energetic movement, emotion and shapes which are essential to his abstract expressionist oeuvre, this gifted contemporary master focuses on the delicate balance between inner essence and outer form, through the innovative use of non-representation. Extending the artistic boundaries to underline contrasting textures which, in turn, are juxtaposed with smooth fluid surfaces, his lyrically poetic abstract paintings can bestbe understood as “landscapes of the mind.”
With flowing color and edited shapes, Mr. Manasijeski has propelled his expressions into dreamscapes of the non-objective realm, as he reveals the invisible within the visible and reflects on the intangible within the tangible. Color is of primary importance and the alchemy of color defines the atmosphere of his paintings. Mr. Manasijeski’s palette reverberates with dazzling color and form to create rhythmical compositions that stimulate the eye. Seeking to establish visual harmony through color, composition, and varying brush strokes, his employment of intense colors and ethereal shapes maximize impact and create the illusion of depth. His current series explores our relationship to structures and space, challenging the viewers’ perception and viewpoint as he urges us to look for the narratives beneath the image.
Providing a sensorial experience for his audience, Mr. Manasijeski’s oeuvre reflects inner passions and emotions which exist in a world far beyond the literal. As symbolic renderings of the human soul and psyche, his canvases vibrate with visceral energy, all the while translating visual space where the conscious and subconscious coalesce and integrate. Intellectually and emotionally, the viewer is dynamically intertwined with the canvases, charged by the powerful aesthetics of creation which are synthesized into a visual sensation.
Jordan Manasijeski exhibits internationally in addition to being featured in important private and public collections throughout the world. Amsterdam Whitney Gallery is proud to shine the spotlight on this Contemporary Master and showcase his magnificent paintings.
